Disney News Roundup: Pandora to the Lion King

This week is already full of Disney news. New casting for the live action Lion King is revealed. A release date for a book highlighting the women who helped start Disney and other fun facts are right around the corner.

First up is more detailed information as to what the 700 employees for the new park in Animal Kingdom: Pandora will entail. It’s the largest expansion the park has undergone and is slated to open May 27th. Guests will travel through the high-tech ride called Flight of Passion. Read more about what to expect when visiting this new part of the park and the cast members here.

Disney was formed by many driven artists, but often times the women are overlooked or go unrecognized. A new book fixes this by giving everyone the history of how women helped form Disney in the ink and paint department. The literature is titled Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney Animations. The release date is slated for September 5th and retails for $38. Read more about the author and the book here.

Jon Favreau’s live action The Lion King movie has cast the dynamic duo: Timon and Pumba. Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner will be voicing the hilarious warthog and meerkat. I’m totally on board with Billy but Seth will have some big shoes to fill. Not sure that Seth can sing but I’m open to the idea. Get some more insight on the news here.

The last movie of the new Star Wars trilogy has been revealed: May 24, 2019. That seems like a long time to wait but greatness takes time. It will be directed by Colin Trevorrow. He did the screenplay for Jurassic World. Plus, the fifth Indian Jones film is coming out on July 10th, 2020. Not sure we need another one after Crystal Skull but Steven Speilberg and Harrison Ford are both returning so that gives me a micro amount of hope.
